Tuition and Policies
Tuition:
School Year (September – June) – $6750 (if paid in full), or $7500 (in weekly or monthly installments of $187.50 or $750, respectively). Includes all supplies and equipment needed, except those noted below.
Meals – are included. An afternoon meal is served in the 1 o’clock hour to our students, farmhands, family, and special guests. Students are responsible for ensuring their own safety regarding food allergies.
Supplies and Equipment – Most are included in tuition. Parents should ensure that their child is supplied with farm boots, a barn jacket, and coveralls (which may be purchased through us, or elsewhere). Student should bring his or her own binder with folders, paper, and pen.
Policies:
Academics – are the responsibility of each student’s family. As our program grows and expands, we may also offer full-day programs that include academics.
Dress and Grooming– Students should wear neat work clothes (denim jeans or overalls, long denim skirts for girls), a farm shirt (one provided to each with tuition), and a hat appropriate to the season (logo hats available through the farm). Patches are acceptable, but open tears are not. Bandanas are handy for keeping perspiration out of the eyes and dust out of the hair.
Socks are essential and it is wise to carry an extra pair for wet days. We recommend double-thick soled socks available anywhere hiking equipment is sold.
Rubber farm boots are required for many farm chores. Comfortable hiking boots are advisable for everyday wear, and slippers should be worn inside the house for kitchen and home economics activities. Shoe covers are required in parts of the milking facility. Sneakers and sandals of any type are not allowed.
Precious bracelets and rings should be left at home. It is far too easy to snag one on a piece of equipment or branch, or to painfully catch and pinch a finger on the farm. These pieces of jewelry must also be removed for safety and hygiene in the milking operation and kitchen.
Necklaces (such as crucifixes) and scapulars are allowed, and even encouraged. Please remember to keep them tucked inside the shirt while working for safety.
Piercings (ears, nose) are allowed, but should be kept quite small and discreet. Studs or fine, close-fitting rings are allowable. Ear gauges are not allowed for safety and hygiene reasons.
Boys should wear their hair short, or pulled back if long. Girls with long hair should keep their hair pulled back in braids, a bun, or a snood.
Makeup is not practical on the farm, but if a young lady wishes to wear it, we ask that it be light and natural. Likewise, for looks and for hygiene, long nails and acrylic nails are not permitted, nail varnish or polish is not allowed for the same reason.
Tattoos are not permitted for students under 18 years. Older students with tattoos need to keep them covered.
Etiquette – Good manners are essential to community. We strive to maintain a standard of language, deportment, and overall attitude that reflects Catholic Christian values.
Commitment – Participants and their parents commit to being on time and ready for each day, dressed appropriately, and properly disposed to the learning and work ahead. We will accept no more than three excused absences from each participant. Our program and community depend upon the participation of each member.
Arrival and Dismissal – Students will arrive no later than 10:45 each day, and will be dismissed at 5pm. If a child requires after-hours care, please inquire.
Private cars – Some students will have their own vehicles to get to the farm. We ask that they be parked in designated areas; and that they be driven safely on the premises for the security of people, animals, and other vehicles. We request that vehicles display magnets or bumper stickers that are a credit to the character of our farm and school.
