Workshops are one-day intensives that teach a particular skill (e.g. knitting), or provide valuable information about a topic (effective home management). All materials are included in the price of your workshop!

Family Centered Living

This workshop is worth the price of membership alone. A full day workshop with information and ideas on how to create your own family-centered lifestyle. Day begins with a talk about how we came to live this way, how we make it work, and what we've learned. Following our talk, we'll take questions - a great opportunity for skeptical dads to get their questions answered! Included are strategies for organization and time management, balancing work, education, and family. You can live a totally family-centered life!

COST: $50 per couple.  Limit of 15 couples.

 

Flower Arranging  

You'll learn by doing how to create a beautiful floral arrangement. Taught by a floral designer trained in both American and European styles. Children old enough to safely handle floral knife and/or pruners through adult are welcome.   Each workshop will address a different style using seasonal materials

Hat Making

Headcoverings are practical, beautiful, and - for some cultures and faiths - required. Each workshop will feature a different headcovering and technique from simply trimming a finished hat to making a pretty topper 'from scratch'. Some will require previous skills, others will be easy for the complete novice. Snoods, knitted hats, sunbonnets, hoods - even creative headwraps! We might even sneak in the ocassional men's hat...

Sticks and Strings  

A monthly workshop for beginning knitters. You'll dye your own ball of yarn and make a pair of knitting needles. You'll learn to cast on, knit, purl and cast off. Then feel free to join us for Open Knit on Tuesday afternoons and join our Charity Knitting Club! Ages 4 to adult.

Fairy Wings  

Make a beautiful set of fairy wings for fun, or to wear to the Renaissance fair! This is an easy, but VERY messy workshop. Please dress appropriately.

Rafa Rafa  

Rafa Rafa is a cross-cultural simulation games. It emphasizes the importance of listening, asking questions, and observing with an open mind. Participants learn to be aware of difficulties in interacting with someone who is different, to speaking descriptive rather than evaluative terms, to study characteristics of different cultures, non-verbal communication, and to behave in a way that makes everyone feel accepted. For 11-13 year olds. Minimum of 12 registered participants needed to run a session.  

COST: $10, includes materials.  

 

Bafa Bafa  

Bafa Bafa is a cross-cultural simulation game. It is similar to the children's workshop, but is more challenging. It emphasizes the importance of listening, asking questions, and observing with an open mind. Participants learn to be aware of difficulties in interacting with someone who is different, to speaking descriptive rather than evaluative terms, to study characteristics of different cultures, non-verbal communication, and to behave in a way that makes everyone feel accepted. Two separate workshops offered - for older teens 14-17 and for adults.  

COST: $10, includes materials.
