Classes are a series of sessions on a single subject, including year-long unit studies. These are mainly academic in nature, but also include some skill classes for both children and adults. All materials are included in the price of your class, with the exception of music lessons!

Prairie Primer

A year-long unit that encompasses all subjects except math and English grammar. The unit is based upon the life and writings of Laura Ingalls Wilder. This class has a decidedly Christian flavor, but all are welcome. For ages 8-12.

2 hours a week. Days and times TBA.

Further Up, Further In

A year-long unit that encompasses all subjects except math and English grammar. The unit is based upon the life and writings of C.S. Lewis. This class has a decidedly Christian flavor, but all are welcome. For ages 12-18.

Subsistence Farming

A demonstration and hands-on learning experience for the entire family consisting of twice-weekly classes focusing on a particular task. The aim of this program is to demonstrate the creation and maintenance of a subsistence farm from an ordinary residential home. We hope to inspire our students to be more self-reliant and to live healthier lives.

Mondays and Wednesdays, April to September at Fairview (Charlton)

"Touchpebbles"

An excellent introduction to reading comprehension and discussion groups for grammar stage (grades 3-6, or ages 8-11). 1 hour per week.  

COST: $20 + $8/wk , includes book and materials.

 

"Touchstones"

An excellent reading comprehension and discussion group for logic and rhetoric stages (grades 7-12, or 12-18). This will be divided into a 'logic' group and a 'rhetoric' group. 1 hour per week.

19 th Century Literature - Jane Austen

A survey of the life and writings of Jane Austen. We'll read her works and discuss how events in her lifetime shaped her writings. Ages 14 and up. 1-2 hours per week (not including reading time)

Pre-Algebra

This course provides a review of introductory algebraic information providing concepts in integers, equations, factors, fractions, rational numbers, ratios, graphing, real numbers, two and three dimensional figures, introductory statistics, and polynomials. Grade equivalent 7, 8, and 9. 12 weeks.
